Qwarzo S.p.A. is an Italian company which has an innovative proprietary technology. It is based in the heart of one of the most pioneering regions in Europe. The Qwarzo® produced by the company is a technology that when applied to paper, gives it characteristics capable of substituting disposable objects usually made with plastic or BIOplastic.

Our Idea

The paper treated with Qwarzo® is resistant to water and oily substances as well as being resistant to low and high temperatures. Furthermore Qwarzo® provides barriers for oxygen and water vapour. Qwarzo® is totally natural, 100% COMPOSTABLE, recyclable and biodegradable and when combined with paper is a valid help against the undiscriminated use of objects made of plastic and BIOplastic.

What we did

1st Place Award in the Design Track for the Ocean Plastic Innovation

Thanks to the adoption of paper products treated with Qwarzo® for the packaging and for disposable objects, 1000 tons of plastic will be saved only in 2021. This represents a great contribution by Qwarzo® for the sustainable development and the circular economy.

In 2019, Qwarzo® has been awarded by National Geographic and Sky Ventures with the prestigious "First Place Award in the Design Track for the Ocean Plastic Innovation" and since 2020 it is the first signer of the UN Manifesto "Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development" [2021-2030], organised by the intergovernmental commission of UNESCO.
